September 23, 2012
Halifax – The Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors (CAND) annual general meeting was held in Halifax, Nova Scotia, on September 23, 2012, marking its first annual meeting to take place in the Maritimes.
Two naturopathic doctors – both of whom hail from Nova Scotia – were presented with special awards to recognize their longtime support of the Profession across Canada.
Dr. Verna Hunt Award
Presented to Dr. Jennifer Salib Huber, ND
Each year the Dr. Verna Hunt award is given to a naturopathic doctor who has made a significant contribution to the CAND. The award is named after its first recipient Dr. Verna Hunt, DC, ND.
The CAND is pleased to present the 2012 Verna Hunt Award to Dr. Jennifer Salib Huber, ND, a former CAND Board member whose contribution to the Organization has included the revitalization of Naturopathic Medicine Week, broadening the focus of the initiative and positioning it as a true national awareness week promoting the naturopathic profession and the benefits of naturopathic medicine.
Lifetime Achievement Award
Presented to Dr. Lois Hare, ND
The award is presented to an ND who has demonstrated their commitment to the Profession throughout their career. The Lifetime Achievement Award is the CAND’s way of recognizing the recipient’s dedication and thanking them for their efforts. This year’s recipient lives a true naturopathic lifestyle, has been Chair of the CAND and the Nova Scotia Association of Naturopathic Doctors and remains active in both organizations to this day.
